What is "The House of Riley"?

So what in the heck is The House of Riley you ask?  Well, plain and simply put, it's the House where Riley lives.  Which also happens to be my house.  Alright, I'll cut to the chase...Riley is our family dog.  Here's the picture:

Now, just in case you didn't know it, Riley is the best dog ever created.  She's a 4-year old pure bred Chocolate Lab. When God sat down and said I need to make a few dogs today, Riley was where he quit...he could do no better.

Our newest family member came to us via the Southeast Texas Lab Rescue Center here in Houston around Valentine's Day 2010.  They are a wonderful group of folks who are clearly not the fastest moving organization (all volunteer), but they sure know what they're doing.  After deciding to get back into the dog business after our Yellow Lab named Honey passed on, I informed the family that I was on board so long as I was able to choose the dog and name the dog.  I just didn't want to end up with an ill-behaved schnauzer-doodle/german shepherd shihtzu mixed mutt named after an obscure Harry Potter character....like the cat in our house (that's a different post).  So my family relented and after going through a very personal, lengthy adoption process much like bringing an orphan from China, we were informed that the perfect dog was available and was ours upon request.  So the Sudduth's trooped out to Clear Lake (South of Houston) where the introduction was made.  After all of 1 minute, we said, "Sign us up!"  She was ours.

Since bringing her home, we have validated that she has perfect lady-like manners, sits, stays, doesn't run away, sleeps with only a hint of a girly snore, doesn't get on the counters, doesn't lick and pretty much wants to be loved continuously.  So not only did God create the best dog ever, he somehow chose us to house her and love her.  And we're thankful to have her everyday.

If you'd like more information about adopting a lab, go to http://txlabrescue.org/.  I doubt they've got another Riley in the mix, but give it a shot.  Maybe there's another like her out there!
